School safety @W2EC
The Ward 2 Education Council's November meeting is this Wednesday, November 15, at 7:00 pm. Representatives from DCPS and MPD will join us to discuss school safety and security

We will be joined by Jacqueline Speight, DCPS' manager of Emergency Planning & Guidance, and Ricky A. Brown, Jr., senior director of the School Security Division. A representative of MPD's School Safety Division will also attend.
We will also cover:
The school safety tech (crossing guard) shortage
LSAT enrollment projection feedback and concerns (and related budget issues)
Updates on the Master Facilities Plan and Student Assignment (boundary) studies, including thoughts or concerns from school representatives
Potential name shortening for School Without Walls @ Francis-Stevens

DCPS budget hearing
DCPS will convene a public budget hearing on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 6:00 pm. The purpose of the hearing is to gather input from the public about the upcoming Fiscal Year 2025 (School Year 2024-2025) budget.
Members of the public are invited to provide testimony at the hearing. Individuals or groups wishing to testify should register online by November 10 at https://bit.ly/dcpsbudgetrsvp25

DME school funding survey
The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education is seeking your voice and input as they develop recommendations for changes to the District’s school funding policies. Please take a few minutes to fill out this short survey to share what matters most to you in your student’s school, what is working well, and where we can improve. The survey is open through November 15, 2023.
